About Us

Hello and welcome!

We are the Stirling Branch of the Scottish Socialist Party (SSP), fighting for an independent Scottish socialist republic. We have been active since October 2013 and have been quickly gathering momentum ever since. We are a very active branch, holding meetings fortnightly in the Ochil Community Centre from 7-9pm, and a street stall in Stirling town centre every Friday from 12-2pm outside the Thistles centre. So far we have had 3 public meetings which have turned out to be a great success, and are planning to hold more events in the run up to the referendum. If you are looking to get involved with the branch, or just to find out more information about the branch or the party, our branch secretary Andrew can be reached on: andrewkinnell1917@gmail.com.

Some may wonder why we as socialists are fighting for an independent Scotland. To put it simply, working people the length and breadth of Scotland will be better off under independence. With a Yes vote in September we will no longer be submitted to a stream of out-of-touch government we didn't vote for. No more will young Scots be dragged into illegal foreign wars to die for global capitalism. No more will the public services generations of Scots fought to establish be dismantled by unrepresentative governments at Westminster. No longer will we have weapons of mass destruction which, we do not want, stationed just 30 miles away from our largest city. In short, independence will give us the chance to take hold of our future as Scots and build a progressive socialist country which cares for all and shares the immense potential wealth our nation has with all of us.

The official 4 month referendum campaign starts on Friday, and it will be a busy few months for all of us. We at the SSP Stirling branch will be especially busy, so keep in touch.

SSP Stirling.
